About the Riverside Sheriffs' Association

Representing sworn personnel and public safety employees across Riverside County since 1971

Riverside County

Serving over 7,200 square miles of Southern California's Inland Empire

Riverside County stretches from the Orange County line west to the Colorado River and Arizona border east, bordered by San Diego and Imperial Counties to the south and San Bernardino County to the north. The landscape transforms from snow-covered pine forests in Idyllwild and Mt. San Jacinto to world-class desert resorts in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, each region demanding constant vigilance and capable law enforcement.

representation

Exclusive representation for law enforcement

The Riverside Sheriffs' Association represents sworn personnel across three bargaining units, advocating for their rights and providing comprehensive support to those who protect the county.

Law Enforcement Unit

Deputy sheriffs and investigators serve the county

The Law Enforcement Unit includes Deputy Sheriffs, Sheriff Corporals, Sheriff Investigators, District Attorney Investigators, Welfare Fraud Investigators, Coroner Deputies, and Court Deputies employed by Riverside County. These sworn personnel form the backbone of the county's public safety efforts.

growth

Growing membership and new partnerships

In 2023, the Riverside Sheriffs' Association welcomed the sworn members of the Val Verde Unified School District Police Officers' Association as Affiliate Members of RSA. The VVUSDPOA members enjoy some benefits of the Association membership including access to our exceptional Legal Defense Trust.

political advocacy

Standing firm on the issues that matter

RSA is an active force in the political arena as well, endorsing candidates for local, state, and federal offices. We also are actively involved in the statewide police labor movement through groups such as the Southern California Alliance of Law Enforcement (S.C.A.L.E.), the California Coalition of Law Enforcement Associations (C.C.L.E.A.), National / State Fraternal Order of Police (NFOP / CAFOP). Through these groups, RSA supports a variety of issues regarding police labor rights, crime victim's rights, more potent laws and effective punishments.

Regional alliances

S.C.A.L.E. unites law enforcement voices across Southern California with shared purpose.

Statewide coalitions

C.C.L.E.A. and NFOP/CAFOP connect RSA to broader movements for meaningful change.

Labor and justice

RSA fights for worker protections, victim rights, and laws that serve communities.

Candidate support

RSA endorses those who understand law enforcement and support public safety priorities.

Charities

Serving those who serve

Finally, in accordance with our primary belief that effective law enforcement must be a joint effort between police and the communities they serve, RSA supports a number of charitable organizations including its very own The Riverside County Deputy Sheriff Relief Foundation. This foundation is something we are particularly proud of.

Through these efforts, and in countless other ways, the Riverside Sheriffs' Association constantly strives to live up to its motto of "Serving Those Who Serve."
